Ayurveda is a traditional Hindu system of medicine. The goal of this ancient healing is to balance bodily systems. This is accomplished via herbal treatments, diet, and yogic breathing.

Following this form of ancient healing involves lifestyle interventions and natural therapies. The process can be challenging in the beginning. Especially when it comes to clean eating and getting enough sleep. But once you start to feel the positive changes, you will be more than ready to continue with your new healthy lifestyle.

The Three Doshas in Ayurveda

To define Ayurveda, you must discuss the five elements every person is made of. Those elements include air, water, earth, space, and fire. All these elements combine within the body and form life forces. Those life forces are called doshas.

There are three doshas in Ayurveda. At any given time, one dosha can be present more than the others. When that happens, your body is out of balance, and you may experience different medical conditions.

Vata Dosha

Vata Dosha is usually considered the most powerful of all the doshas. This dosha controls all the basic body functions. You can disrupt Vata Dosha by staying up too late, eating meals too close together, or by feeling fear or grief.

When Vata Dosha is the main presence in your life, you can develop numerous medical conditions like heart disease, asthma, and anxiety.
